The Seeker Always Receives His Indications
Mrs. Pradhan, wife of a staunch devotee of Shri Sai Baba, Moreshwar W Pradhan recalls her experiences as below: All my children had measles. Once when Babu my eldest child had measles, the doctor had little hope of his recovery. All were hopeless. I payed to Baba. He appeared and said: “The child is alright. Around 6 or 6:30 AM feed him well”. I followed His instructions. The child began to play in the morning. The doctor came and was surprised to see the child playing. He warned us not to feed him. However, Babu ate everything and was able to digest the food.
One night at 11 p.m. Baba appeared in my dream and said “Are you sleeping? Get up. Your boy will have convulsions”. I got up. I looked at the boy. He had neither fever nor convulsions. However, I didn’t want to take any chance. So, I kept everything ready: hot-water, fire, cologne etc. About 2 a.m. the boy woke up and had convulsions – all our children used to have convulsions occasionally. I was prepared for it. In half an hour, the fit passed off. Baba saved us from sorrow and danger by his forewarning. He did so often.
Once Baba appeared in my dream and asked me to apply turmeric and saffron on His feet. I worshipped him in my dream. I told this incident to Nana Saheb Chandorkar. He advised me to take silver padukas to Shirdi, offer them to Baba and get them for worship. So I did, Baba Himself stretched out both legs and asked me to place each Paduka on each foot and worship. I did so. He handed them over to me.
On another occasion during prayer at the Mosque, Baba knew of my baby crying in our wada, and In the middle of the rituals sent me away saying “Go home”. I went home, pacified the child and returned. “Now”; said Baba “do your prayer”. Once the doctor said that typhoid convalescent baby should not be taken to Shirdi. But we did take him. He was ill in the train. I feared that people would laugh at me for my madness. The child had to lie down and could not even sit up. As soon as we went to Baba, the child stood up before Baba: and Baba said, “People will not laugh now” – Of course He knew our thoughts during the journey.
As quoted in Shri Guru Bhagavat:
Shrigurunku khojai jie || Guru ingita paae sie
Chitta ekaagra nahoile || Gurunka ingita namile
He who seeks the Guru, always receives his indications. However, one cannot receive such subtle indications or hints unless he (the devotee) is totally focussed on Him (the Guru).
Sadgurunkara smarana || Ekaagrachitte kale dhyaana
Gurunka baanee shubhe paraa || Sookshma shrabanendriya dwaaraa
When one contemplates on the Guru with avid concentration, he can listen to the celestial voice of the Guru through his power of subtle hearing.
