Cycle of Cause and Effect
Sadguru wants to liberate us. He wants to lead us to a place reaching where all our problems come to an end and a fountain of bliss begins to flow. But we are stuck up in the little thorny bushes of this path and get troubled by their pricks. We are not prepared to bear little pain a little more. We want that Sadguru should remove all such thorns, which cause us little little pains. Why not hold on to the theme of devotion and forbearance in our heart and meditate at the feet of Sadguru? All our miseries will disappear gradually on their own.
Who are we to award the consequence to anybody for his doings? In the ultimate analysis this lies with God only. Everybody will bear the consequence of his or her actions. Many a times a human being misconceives himself of being the giver of justice to others in terms of punishments and rewards. Because of our limited intellect we think that we are being subjected to injustice by somebody. However, in the ultimate reality, we don’t understand that we had also committed similar injustice towards somebody in the past. Many times we become proud of our strength and capability and try to turn the situations in our favour with selfish interest.
If one wields power then that should be used to conquer one’s own self. If one wants to emerge victorious then one should conquer those causes due to which enmity and aggression arises in heart.
Today, if we save ourselves from some aggression, tomorrow there will be a new set of aggression. Thus, we will be left entangled in a cycle of cause and effect. If we punish someone today, he will punish us in next life. If we excuse, this chain of reactions ends.
No matter how much of hardship comes in life, one should bear the brunt of the circumstances or results of his actions with forbearance. It needs great amount of inner strength to be generous towards those whom we consider to be our enemies.
