‘Guru Kripa’ embarks the Spiritual Journey
When “Guru Kripa” (divine grace) descends on a devotee, it purifies him. The devotee pleads before his Guru alone to fulfill his material needs. He becomes dis-passionate towards wordly objects. He repents after realizing his past mistakes and it’s repercussions. By empowering the devotee, the Guru purifies his body, remove the fetters of his mind, and leads him on the path of “God-Realization”. By the grace of Guru, the devotee becomes “ego-less”. This creates an enormous paradigm shift inside him and by sacrificing his self-interest, the devotee yearns to serve the poor and oppressed. He develops an attitude of “To serve the Living, is to Worship Narayan”. Association with the Guru develops his inner qualities. He communicates his thoughts frequently with the Sadguru. The Guru’s consciousness fills the devotee’s mind with Divinity.
Even a householder can be a perfect devotee if he remains satisfied with little, carries out his duties, looks after his family, and offers whatever he receives (food, objects, possessions, etc.) to the Guru. In such a household, not only the head of the family, but every member of the family offers water, fruit, and ‘Anna’ to the Guru, before partaking their meal. In such household, the Guru is worshiped both in the morning and in the evening. Guests, poor and destitute are always greeted in such a home. The home where the biggest “Dharma” is “Service”, turns into a temple, an abode of Shri Guru and Shri Hari.
As quoted in Shri Guru Bhagavat:
ଅଳ୍ପରେ ସନ୍ତୁଷ୍ଟ ନର | ସୁଖେ ଦୁଃଖେ ଚଳାଏ ଘର ||
ଯେ ଘରେ ଗୁରୁଙ୍କ ନିବାସ | ସେଠାରେ ହରିଙ୍କ ବାସ ||Alpare Santusta Nara | SukheDukhe Chalae Ghara ||
Je Ghare Gurunka Nivasa | Sethare Harinka Basa ||
(Shri Guru Bhagavat Vol. 1 / Verse 128 / Page 78)
