Blind Faith is a sign of Weakness
Giving credit to the unknown, invalidated, and unreal practices can be termed as “Blind Faith”. It is generated by fear, not devotion. Someone with a blind faith can be considered as a blind person since it prevents the individual from experiencing truth and receiving knowledge and power. Blind faith stoops an individual’s thought processes to such a low level that he encounters only disappointments and leads an apprehensive life. On the other hand, one whose faith is pure is fearless as his belief system is rooted in righteousness and truth. Such a person can be compared with a lion cub.
One who fails to accept the truths of life and keeps himself surrounded with a web of blind faith will never be able to help himself. An analysis of our blind belief system will bring into light our weaknesses. A weak person always runs away from the truth and aspires to receive everything with minimum effort. Blind faith is based on arguments and selfish reasoning. It signifies a weak and skeptic personality.
Blind faith weakens the foundations of a Society. Those individuals who take refuge in truth and stay firm while practicing righteousness are the pillars of the society. Like termites feed on wood and slowly decay a wooden pillar, blind faith cripples a society and creates impediments in the path of progress.
As quoted in Shri Guru Bhagavat:
ଅନ୍ଧବିଶ୍ୱାସ କାଚପରି | ଅଳ୍ପ ଆଘାତେ ଯାଏ ଝରି ||
ଦୁର୍ବଳତାର ସେ ପ୍ରତୀକ | ମନ ଯେ ସଦା ଦକ ଦକ ||
Andhabishwaasa Kaachapari | Alpa aaghaate jaae jhari ||
Durbalataara se prateeka | Mana je saada daka daka ||
[Blind faith is like a glass, which shatters into splinters with a slight knock. It symbolizes weakness and always creates mental apprehension.]
