Benevolent Baba

Baba once told to Shama: “If a man utters My name with love, I shall fulfill all his wishes, increase his devotion. And if he sings earnestly My life and My deeds, him I shall beset in front and back and on all sides. Believe Me that if anybody sings My Leelas, I will give him infinite joy and everlasting contentment. It is My special characteristic to free any person, who surrenders completely to Me. The simple remembrance of My name will do away with sins of speech and hearing”. (Chapter 3, Shri Sai Satcharitra)

Shri Tatya Saheb Noolkar was a staunch devotee of Baba. Once while he was a Sub-Judge at Pandharpur, he had pain in his eyes and had gone to his brother who is a doctor at Jalgaon for treatment. After learning that Gurupoornima is going to be celebrated in the next 2 to 3 days he started immediately for Shirdi without any treatment. After reaching Shirdi, He lay down in the wada (lodging) with pain in his eyes. When he went for Baba’s darshan, Baba told Shama in His own characteristic way “Shama, My eyes are giving trouble and I am suffering much from pain“. From the time Baba uttered these words, the pain in the eyes of Shri Noolkar disappeared.

Once in Shirdi a bull dedicated to lord Shiva roamed in the village gardens and fields and destroyed plants, crops etc. So the villagers got together and decided to send the bull away to PanjraPole (an asylum for ageing animals) at Yeola (around 20 miles from Shirdi) and collected funds. They entrusted the work to one Bhiku Marwari of Shirdi in all good faith but he proved to be treacherous. Bhiku went to Yeola as directed, but instead of taking the bull to the asylum, he sold it to a butcher for a sum of Rs. 14/, returned to Shirdi and reported that he left the bull in the asylum. Omniscient Baba knew everything. He appeared in one Shri Bayaji’s dream and said “You have been enjoying sound sleep of rest. Have you not placed me in a butcher’s hand?” Bayaji reported this to the village people, who, growing suspicious about the Marwari, sent Bayaji to Yeola for investigation. Bayaji went to Yeola asylum and searched for the bull. Not finding the bull there, he went to the butcher’s lane and looked here and there. Fortunately at that very moment, the bull raised up its head above a butcher’s compound wall. Shri Bayaji immediately recognized the bull. He approached the butcher and requested him to return the bull, but he declined his request and demanded money. After paying his due, Bayaji took the bull from the butcher and left it in the asylum. On his return to Shirdi he acquainted the villagers with Bhiku’s act and to set a lesson for such sinful, faithless people, Baba inspired the villagers to prosecute him. Bhiku had to undergo in jail for two months for his treacherous act. From this story we learn that Baba had his benign protective eyes not only on human beings but also on all creatures.

Surrender to Shri Sai Completely ! Stupendous Delectations and Deliverance be there !!

Jai Shri Sai !
